Over 100-Year-Old House Demolished in the Heart of Boro Park
By BoroPark24 Staff
A piece of Boro Park history has come down, as the century-old home at 1402 46th Street was recently demolished after standing strong for more than 100 years.
The once-famous house, which had sat abandoned in recent years, is now under the ownership of the Minkatch Kehilah. Many remember the building for its long-standing sign above the entrance that read “STEP – Special Torah Education Program”, marking its use in earlier years.
The lot occupies one of the most central locations in the neighborhood; next door to the Tosh Shul, across from Bnos Chaya, and just steps away from the iconic Bais Yaakov school. With the demolition complete and the property cleared, the space is now prepared for future use.
This marks yet another significant shift in the ever-changing Boro Park landscape, as new developments continue to reshape the neighborhood. Stay with us for updates on this and other building projects around town.
