Record Heat Expected Across New York This Week

By Y.M. Lowy

After a long winter, temperatures across New York are set to jump sharply this week, with highs climbing into the upper 70s and 80s, and some areas possibly nearing 90 degrees by Wednesday. That’s more than 30 degrees above normal for this time of year.

At Central Park, which is used as the official benchmark for New York City weather records, the April 15 high of 87 degrees, set in 1941, could be challenged if the forecast holds.

The National Weather Service says the warmest days will come midweek. A few showers are possible later in the week, but no significant rain is expected right away.
