Relief in Sight: Israel Announces More Students Being Allowed into Country

On Sunday afternoon, the “Igud”—an organization representing students from abroad learning in Israel, and has been working non-stop to help students return to their Yeshivos and seminaries—announced an exciting update affecting many students stranded in America.

“the office of MK Rabbi Aryeh Deri has just updated the Igud with the following statement:

‘Anyone from the United States that has a valid student visa can fly without needing an entry permit.’

At the time of this writing, some details, such as the status of newborns that have been born to valid visa holders, and others, have not yet become clear.

Askanim urged the public to keep in mind that this provision applies only to those already holding a visa, not for those who intend to apply for one. The Israeli government continues to strictly apply the rules as they seek to emerge from the Covid pandemic.
