Rep. Dan Goldman Honors Jewish and AAPI Leaders at Heritage Month Event

Congressman Dan Goldman hosted an event celebrating Jewish and Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month, honoring four community leaders for their contributions to Brooklyn’s cultural fabric and their fight against discrimination.

“The Jewish and AANHPI communities share a historic bond, standing together against prejudice,” Goldman said. “This event celebrates their contributions and recognizes exceptional leaders.”

Honorees included Avi Greenstein, CEO of the Boro Park Jewish Community Council; Betsy Jacobson, Executive Director of the United Jewish Council of the East Side; Nicole Huang, Executive Director of the Parent-Child Relationship Association; and Tony Chuy, President of the Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association. Greenstein was lauded for transforming the BPJCC into a multimillion-dollar organization, expanding social services and launching programs like the Brooklyn Communities United initiative.

Goldman, co-chair of the House Bipartisan Task Force for Combating Antisemitism and a member of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus, has prioritized advocacy for both communities. In 2023, he hosted a town hall with federal and local law enforcement to address rising hate crimes against Jewish and Asian New Yorkers.

The event highlighted the power of unity in combating hate and building a stronger, more inclusive Brooklyn.
