Rumors Swirl That Mayor Eric Adams is Considering Working Under President Trump

By Y.M. Lowy

Top White House officials are talking, as per reports, about giving New York City Mayor Eric Adams a job in President Trump’s administration.

The idea comes as some are pushing mayoral candidates to drop out so the strongest opponent can take on Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani, whose extreme socialist views have made him a dangerous threat to the safety of our community.

Political insiders say too many candidates in the race could split the vote, making it easier for Mamdani to win. By moving Adams into a federal role, the field could be cleared for one strong opponent to take him on directly. Even in the mayor’s circle, advisers were thought to be encouraging him to take the federal role.

A Spokesperson for Mayor Eric’s campaign shut the talk down, saying, “Mayor Adams has not met with Donald Trump- don't believe the noise. He is not dropping out of the race. The mayor is fully committed to winning this election, with millions of New Yorkers preparing to cast their votes. His record is clear: crime is down, jobs are up, and he has consistently stood up for working families. Mayor Adams is focused on building on that progress and earning four more years to continue delivering for the people of New York.”

Adams, however, has not yet spoken on the rumors.
