Suspect Arrested for Snatching Hat off a Yid in Boro Park

A teen was arrested and charged with a hate crime after pursuing two young bachurim, snatching the hat off one of them, and making off with it. The incident took place on October 20, near 18th Avenue and 62nd Street. 

BoroPark24 spoke with Shomrim who explained that they were called following the incident and began combing surveillance footage in the entire area. The footage clearly showed the suspect running after the boys and making off with a hat of one of them. They followed his movements until he got into a car. Using high-quality home surveillance footage, they were able to make out the license plate, leading them to the suspect. 

Shomrim handed over the footage and information to the NYPD, whose detectives got on the case. Once he was identified, the suspect turned himself in and was arrested at the 62nd precinct. 

He was charged with two counts of grand larceny, one as a hate crime, as well as one count of criminal possession of stolen property.
