By Toby Friedman

On this day, fifty-eight years ago, Americans were shocked by the news that their beloved president, John F. Kennedy was assassinated. He was in Dallas, Texas at the time, riding in a presidential motorcade, when he was shot by Lee Harvey Oswald. Thirty minutes after the shooting the president was pronounced dead leaving the country bereaved of its leader. The former US Marine, Oswald, was arrested shortly thereafter.
