Tropical Storm Elsa Heads for New York City, Brings a Flash Flood Warning

Tropical Storm Elsa is moving northeast through the Carolinas and is headed for New York City this evening when Boro Park will probably see showers that are the beginning of five to six inches of rain by Friday morning.

Before the tropical storm hits New York City, Boro Parkers can expect muggy and warm weather, with a high of 86 degrees.

Starting tonight at 2 or 3am, a flash flood watch is in effect, as heavy rain remnants from the tropical storm could bring fierce winds that gust at 40 to 50 miles per hour, reported weather enthusiast Yaker Biegeleisen.

“Some low-lying areas and basements could see serious flooding between 2 and 10 am tonight,” said Mr. Biegeleisen.

Tropical Storm Elsa could cause considerable other damage, such as by causing trees to fall and by sparking power outages, the National Weather Service warned.

The skies are expected to clear by late Friday morning when heavy clouds give way to bright sun in the afternoon.

Shabbos and Sunday are expected to feel warm and humid, with highs in the low 80s.
