Two Brothers, Blessed With Long Life by Satmar Rebbe, Niftar on Yahrtzeit

Boro Park - They were two brothers, Holocaust survivors from Hungary who set out to rebuild after the war. They were blessed by the Satmar rebbe, Rav Yoel Teitelbaum zt”l, with arichas yamim, long life.

Incredibly, they both were niftar on the same day — on the Satmar rebbe’s 41st yahrtzeit.

The levaya of Reb Efraim Fishel, 96, will be 10 a.m. on Monday at Shmrei Hadas chapel.

The levaya of Reb Yaakov Guttman, 94, was on Sunday.

The Guttman brothers were born in Hungary to Reb Moshe Yosef and Chaya Sarah Guttman. They immigrated to the United States after the war and settled in Boro Park. Yaakov became an upholstery and drapes retailer. His wife passed away a year ago and he is survived by a son and two daughters.

Reb Efraim Fishel lived in Williamsburg for many years before moving to Boro Park.
