Two Permits Revoked from Placard Holder Abusers Over 19 Month Period
Mayor Bill de Blasio has suspended just two motorists' permits after vowing to revoke all caught parking illegally with parking placards 19 months ago.
In February 2019, de Blasio announced a three strike policy in an effort to withdraw placards from holders who use their permits to park illegally.
The placards are distributed annually to municipal and state employees as well as non-profit organizations. They are intended to give drivers conducting city business parking flexibility but are commonly used for personal advantage.
In July, city officials told The New York Post that out of the 125,000 placards distributed annually, only 389 holders received a warning.
