Two-Story Townhouse Explodes in Kiamesha Lake

A two-story townhouse located in the Patio Homes development at 15 James Place in Kiamesha Lake exploded on the first day of Yom Tov. 

The explosion left two children and one adult with serious injuries.

It is likely that the accident, which took place at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Shabbos, may have been due to a propane tank exploding.

No Yidden other than the Catskills Hatzalah volunteers who responded were involved. The Monticello Fire Department was also at the scene, although there were no flames to battle.

The incident is under investigation, but police have shared that they do not believe the accident to have been criminal in nature.
