Walk-In Vaccinations Now Available to New Yorkers of All Ages
All New Yorkers who are older than 16-years-old now can walk in, without appointments, to get their shots at any of the city-run vaccination sites, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced today.
Although in the past, city-run vaccination sites only provided shots to New Yorkers who lived nearby, now those geographical restrictions have been lifted, Mayor de Blasio said.
While all city residents can now walk in to any city vaccination centers at any time, New Yorkers who are 16 and 17-years-old must get the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, which was the only one that was tested on that age group.
“We’re quite confident we could accommodate a much higher volume of walk-ins, so we’re going to make that universal at all the city-run sites, again, for all ages,” said Mayor de Blasio, who also encouraged physicians to personally contact patients and let them know receiving a vaccine is simple and easy.
