Wanna Shovel Some Cash? NYC Sanitation Is Hiring Snow Shovelers!

The NYC Department of Sanitation (DSNY) is hiring emergency snow shovelers for the 2024-2025 winter season.

These per-day workers will help clear bus stops, crosswalks, fire hydrants, and step streets of snow and ice after heavy snowfall.

If you’re at least 18 years old, eligible to work in the United States, and physically capable of lifting heavy snow, we encourage you to apply.

Applicants must register for an application appointment online and bring two small photos, an original copy of two forms of ID, and their Social Security card to their appointments.

Despite NYC's snowless start to the year, with only 2.3 inches of snow in 2023, temperatures are expected to drop below freezing before the official first day of winter so that snow shovelers may have a busy season ahead.
