“With the Young and the Old”: Satmar Rebbe to Celebrate Torah in Boro Park, this Sunday
In recent years—the period of post-Shavuos, before the
exodus to the country—has become synonymous with the “Chumash Seuda,” at which
the father and mothers, bubbes and zeides, come to observe the beautiful
moments when their young, pure yingelech
begin the journey of learning Torah.
Usually on Sunday, the shuls and yeshivos are a hive of
activity as families join with the mechanchim
and rabbonim to witness this beautiful moment. The events are filled with
pageantry, with beautiful costumes and drapery, as befits the greatness of the
day.
Sunday, the Satmar Rebbe will arrive in Boro Park from
Kiryas Yoel to take part in dual celebrations—which are really part of one
whole.
The Landau family is donating a sefer Torah to the large
Satmar shul on 53rd Street, which the Rebbe will participate in.
Earlier in the day, he will attend the Chumash Seudah of the Satmar Cheder in
Boro Park—where 200 children, ka”h, will receive their first chumash.
And so, the joy and the
celebration of the holy Torah will be felt in Boro Park, by the young as well
as the old.
