$100M Climate Innovation Hub Will Come to Sunset Park

New York City is set to invest $100 million into a climate initiative at the Brooklyn Army Terminal, according to announcement made by Mayor Eric Adams in the State of the City address on Wednesday. 

“This hub will bring business development, incubation and research to a 4 million square foot campus, turning Sunset Park into a center for clean tech innovation and manufacturing,” Adams said during the speech.

The mayor said that this initiative on the outskirts of Boro Park is part of a greater project called "Harbor of the Future, which intends to bring state-of-the-art technology to the city's shorelines, and will see projects go up all around the city. 

The city's Economic Development Corporation--which manages the Brooklyn Army Terminal--will soon be releasing a request for a proposal for developers to take on this project. 

According to the city, This new space will enable emerging market innovators, small companies, and growth-stage and commercialization-stage companies to: Build and rapidly prototype products, provide business support using the fit-for-purpose space, and carry out product research and development.
