4 Injured, One Seriously, When Drunk Driver Slams Into Pedestrians

Four people standing on the side of the road were struck by a speeding vehicle in the early hours of Monday, lightly injuring three and temporarily pinning a fourth man underneath the car.

The incident happened on Fort Hamilton Parkway and 39th Street when the pedestrians were loading a car. The driver tried fleeing but was halted by a bystander who notified Shomrim.

Shomrim detained the driver and he was ultimately arrested by police officers. He was found to have a alcoholic blood level over the limit. Bottles of intoxicating beverages were found in his vehicle.

Three of the pedestrians were lightly injured while the fourth was hospitalized in serious condition.
