A Boro Park Electronics Icon Closes its Doors

With six weeks to Pesach, one of the strongest seasons for electronics and housewares stores, we learn this evening of the sad closing of an icon in the Boro Park community, “The Buzz” electronics on 50th street.

When it opened about twenty years ago, on the heels of its sister store on Coney Island Avenue in Flatbush, the conspicuous flashy red sign caught the attention of savvy Boro Park consumers who sought off-brand electronics at cheaper prices.

In time, readers of heimish papers and magazines came to know the establishment on 50th street— formerly occupied by the legendary Ossie’s Fish—through the heavy amount of advertising that they invested in.

Their shuttering this afternoon in a sudden manner comes as a complete shock to the community—likely a sad casualty to the move online, a sign of of our changing times
