NYC General Election: Key Races, Early Voting Hours and Locations

By Y.M. Lowy

Early voting is underway, with more than 165,000 New York City voters casting ballots during the first two days, according to the NYC Board of Elections.

The first day of early voting, Saturday, October 24, saw 86,215 voters check in across the five boroughs. By the close of polls on Sunday, the cumulative total had reached 165,143.

Brooklyn recorded 47,177 cumulative check-ins by the end of Sunday, followed by Manhattan with 46,314, Queens with 40,281, the Bronx with 17,595 and Staten Island with 13,776.

Statewide, about 265,000 people voted early on Saturday alone, nearly twice the number who voted on the first day of early voting during the 2022 general election.

Voters will decide several important races this November, including statewide offices, congressional seats and State Senate races.

In the governor’s race, Kathy Hochul is running against Bruce Blakeman. For state comptroller, Thomas DiNapoli is facing Joseph Hernandez. In the local State Senate race, Sam Sutton is running against Nachman Caller for the 22nd Senate District, which includes parts of Brooklyn.

Other races on the ballot include attorney general, Congress, State Assembly and judicial seats, depending on each voter’s district.

Early voting continues through Sunday, November 1. Two early voting locations serving the Boro Park area are:

● BPJCC Community Center: 5102 13th Avenue

● FDR High School: 5800 20th Avenue

Voters cannot simply choose either location. Your assigned early voting site is determined by your registered home address, and you must vote at the location assigned to you. Your early voting site may also be different from your Election Day polling place.

The remaining early voting schedule is:

● Monday, October 26: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

● Tuesday, October 27: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

● Wednesday, October 28: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

● Thursday, October 29: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

● Friday, October 30: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

● Saturday, October 31: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

● Sunday, November 1: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, with polling sites open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
