“A Friend to All”: Rosner’s Grocery Remembers Beloved Employee of 20 Years

A simple but touching tribute now hangs in Rosner’s Grocery on 16th Avenue - a memorial poster honoring a longtime employee who passed away after two decades of devoted service.
Amarndo, known in the store and the neighborhood as a quiet, honest, and hard-working presence, spent 20 years at the grocery. The staff gathered for a small ceremony to mark his memory as they put up the poster. Customers paused, and silence gave way to shared stories and warm words.
Moshe Rosner, the store’s owner, put it best: “He wasn’t just a worker here; he was a friend to everyone. An honest, good guy. We worked together for twenty years.”
“I remember sitting here once,” he recalled. “A lady had forgotten her money and was visibly upset. Armando reached into his own pocket, gave her the cash, and said, ‘Just pay me back when you come back.’ That’s the kind of person he was.”
“He was there for everybody - always ready to help anyone who needed anything.”
