Additional Adams Officials Resign Amidst Ongoing Federal Investigation
By Idy Perl
Amidst the ongoing scandals in the Adams administration, several additional officials have announced their resignation.
Philip Banks III, the Deputy Mayor for Public Safety, announced his resignation yesterday, followed shortly after by another resignation announcement from Winnie Greco, the Director of Asian Affairs.
In addition, although Mayor Adams refuted rumors about it yesterday, this morning First Deputy Mayor Sheena Wright resigned from office as well. Her position is expected to be filled by the Deputy Mayor for Housing, Economic Development and Work Force, Maria Torres-Springer. Who will then fill that position is unclear.
Deputy Mayor Wright’s phone and home were among those that were searched last month amidst the federal probe that targeted several members of the Adams administration.
In the meantime, Mayor Adams is still going about business as usual and is still claiming that he can continue being mayor of NYC while dealing with his legal troubles and rapidly shrinking administration.
Time will tell…
