ADL Announces Opening of Satellite Office at BPJCC

Thursday morning, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) leadership gathered at the Boro Park Jewish Community Council's offices to open their satellite office in the center of the Boro Park community.

On hand was BPJCC's CEO, Rabbi Avi Greenstein, who told BoroPark24, "The ADL has been at the forefront of defending our community during the onslaught of anti-Semitic attacks in recent years."

This announcement comes amid a staggering increase in anti-Semitic incidents, especially against visibly-religious Jews. According to the statistics released by the ADL in March, 3,697 antisemitic incidents in U.S.—36% increase from 2021, with 88% of these incidents taking place in New York City.

These are the highest numbers on record since ADL began tracking antisemitic incidents in 1979.

"Anti-Semitism is on the rise, and Brooklyn is the epicenter of this rise," said Reb Josh Mehlman, a major askan from Flatbush at the event. "We are under siege. It's important that we all come together to defend every single member of the community."

Jonathan Greenblatt, CEO of the ADL, said, "We are not simply renting space in the Boro Park JCC's busy office. This is about joining forces to keep our Jewish community safe, with a particular focus on the Orthodox Jewish community."

Rabbi Greenstein expressed his wishes for the success of this collaboration wherein the organization would hopefully bring its significant clout to defending and advocating for the Boro Park community.

"The ADL has been a vociferous defender of our community," Greenstein shared, "and have called out the soft bigotry of the New York Times in their slanted coverage of our community. We look forward to their continued work from the midst of our community."
