Annual Burn Ban Goes Into Effect Earlier Than Usual

Annual Burn Ban Goes Into Effect Earlier Than Usual

By Idy Perl

Following a series of brush fires that occurred in Long Island over the weekend, officials have issued a burn ban effective immediately throughout NYC, Long Island, and the Lower Hudson Valley.

The ban prohibits the open burning of tree limbs or branches, but still allows small outdoor grills and campfires that are less than 3 feet in height and 4 feet in length.

The burn ban is in effect from March 9-16, when the annual New York State March-May burn ban begins.
