Apple Releases iOS 14.5 and iPadOS 14.5 With Face Mask Unlock, App Tracking Transparency

    Apple has released iOS 14.5 and iPadOS 14.5, with new features, such as app tracking transparency,  easier unlocking for users who are wearing face masks, and 200 new emojis.

    For the past few weeks, iOS 14.5 and iPadOS 14.5 have been tested in a limited beta period, but now, the newest Apple models are available to the public. 

    iPhone and iPad owners can install the latest versions of iOS and iPadOS manually, as an automatic update. To do so, users can open their Settings app, and then select “General” followed by “Software Update.” 

   In addition to fixing bugs and generally improving internal performance, Apple has added new English voices for Siri, which now has four available voices that users can choose when they create their initial phone setups.

   Apple has also released a new App Tracking Transparency feature that allows users to track advertisers on apps and websites.

   When the new App Tracking Transparency feature is enabled, users receive dialog boxes that indicate apps and websites that want to appear. Because this new app could result in a substantial loss of profits for advertisers, Facebook has attacked Apple for the feature.

    Another long-awaited feature has on Apple products has arrived, which is the ability for users to unlock their iPhone while wearing masks, however, an Apple Watch unlocked with watchOS 7.4 or later, is required.

    The rest of the updates on iOS and iPadOS include compatibility with PlayStation 5 DualSense and Xbox Series X game controllers, expanding compatibility with iPhone and iPad controllers, improvements in Apple Fitness +,, and enhancements for Apple Music.
