Bais Yakov Announces School Closure with Remote Learning for Between Yom Kippur and Sukkos

The Bais Yakov  school of Boro Park announced that due to the increase of COVID-19 cases in the community, and since there are only a few days between Yom Kippur and Sukkos, a time when many families gather and the spread may rise, it will remain closed for those few days with the students participating via remote learning.

The following is a email sent by the principal of the school:

Dear Parents, עמו"ש

Baruch Hashem, our school community enjoyed a wonderful start to the school year – in person!

With the recent developments in our community, I feel it imperative that in order to maintain this beracha - we take small, proactive, and preventative measures to avoid an outbreak and חלילה  face a school closure, such as experienced by other schools within the community.

Due to  the exposures that Rosh Hashana gatherings has brought upon us, and the possible exposures that the upcoming חגים  will bring – after consulting our Vaad Harrabanim, I feel it is necessary to transfer to remote learning for the 2 days after Yom Kippur next week. Your daughters will be sent home with beautiful pre-yom tov materials tomorrow בעזר"ה.

The level of exposure that the next few weeks will bring is unknown.  We will keep a close eye on our communities’ developments over the coming days of Yom tov and we will be in contact with you regarding the days immediately following Isru Chag. Just in case, your daughters will bring home learning materials for an additional 4 days of potential remote learning.

This effort will allow our school to continue our in-person model בעזר"ה  for the rest of the year in a safe manner. If any symptoms present themselves over this course of time, I urge you to keep your children home and notify us immediately.

While I understand the difficulties inherent in having the children home for these days, please understand that I am taking this course of action with an eye on the future of our school.  Ultimately, we have only אבינו שבשמים  to rely upon, however we do need to do our השתדלות.

May we all beזוכה   to aגמר חתימה טובה  and a Nachas filled year of Gezunt and Avodas Hashem.

 Rabbi Menachem Frank
