BDE: Dr. Emanuel Schiowitz, Legendary Boro Park Physician

We regret to inform you of the passing of Dr. Emanuel Schiowitz, a legendary and longtime internist in the Boro Park community for many years. He was 86 years of age.
Dr. Schiowitz was born in Boro Park in the year 1939, to his parents, Hyman and Rose Schiowitz, immigrants from Hungary who were making a new life for themselves in America, and chose the community of Boro Park which was beginning to thrive. They were deeply involved with the fledgling Yeshiva Toras Emes of Boro Park, and they remain associated with the yeshiva to this day.
Emanuel married Frances Lampert, tbl"ch, a daughter of another one of the askonim of Yeshiva Toras Emes. Together, they built a Torah home in the Midwood community outside Boro Park.
Dr. Schiowitz's office was located for many years on 59th Street and 17th Avenue. There, he treated countless patients with extraordinary devotion and expertise. Countless Boro Park residents counted themselves among Dr. Schiowitz's patients, and the chessed that he did for them accompanies him on his final journey.
Dr. Schiowitz was niftar in the early hours of Sunday morning, and the levaya will take place 6:30pm at Shomrei Hadas. To watch levaye live click here. Kevurah will take place in Beit Shemesh.
