BDE: Legendary Askan and Renowned Figure Reb Chaim Yosef Pinkus Z”l

It is with deep sadness that we report the passing of a legendary Askan and loving figure to many, Reb Chaim Yosef Pinkus Z”l, after battling an illness in recent months. He was 63-years-old.

Reb Chaim Yosef was a father figure to so many, personally assisting single parents in all their needs. As someone with a smile, he was always there in their times of need and walked them through the struggles of life.

Prior to Yomim Tovim and other special occasions he stepped up and personally delivered, along with some friends who volunteered, hundreds of food packages including Matzah before Pesach, to needy families. Never mentioning a word about it in public.

Reb Chaim Yosef was a beacon of light to hundreds of people who found themselves stuck in the world of financial debt, serving as a trusted advisor and personal assistant to help those struggling to get back onto a path of financial stability.

Throughout the years so many came to rely on his advice that he opened an office in his basement, with all expenses including other workers, paid from his own pocket, never asking anyone using his services for a fee, all so that he can help more people.

“When he walked into Shul, everyone smiled,” said one Mispalel from Tosh, who considered Reb Chaim Yosef a personal friend. “He always brought along some prizes for the children and everyone loved him. His character and devotion to help any person coming his way is who he was, and what he will be remembered for.”

The Levaya took place outside the Tosh Shul on 14th Avenue, his second home where he prayed and at any extra moment studied Torah, for many years. Kevura will be at the Viznitz Beis Hachaim in Monsey.

His passing leaves a void with so many who throughout the years saw him as a personal Shliach from Hashem to help those less fortunate.

Yehi Zichro Baruch.
