BDE: R’ Avrum Shmiel Binyumin Blau, z”l

We are saddened to inform you of the passing of Reb Avrum Shmiel Binyomin Blau A”h, a survivor who made his home in Boro Park, and was a legendary Bobover chosid. 

He was born in Yomad, Hungary, where his father, R’ Duvid was a confidante of the Minchas Elozor of Munkatch. 

Following the war, he met the Bobover Ruv in England, and became tethered to him with heart and soul for the rest of his life. Together with his father, who was also fortunate to survive, he married off many orphans, helping them in establishing Jewish homes atop the ashes of the Churban. 

He was one of the first Talmidim in the reestablished Bobover yeshiva on the west side. He was a man of action, and rallied to the side of the Ruv in everything he needed in his quest to rebuild Yiddishkeit. 

He would drive children to cheder and serve as their melamed; a one-man support to the Bobover Ruv and to the chassidus. 

For many years he worked in Beis Yaakov of Boro Park, and he is remembered by many in the community for his smile and his willingness to help everyone in need of favors large and small. 

He established a beautiful chassidishe family of generations of Bobover chassidim. 

He was niftar Thursday at the age of 92. 

The Levaya will take place at 9:00 pm at the Bobover Beis Medrash.
