YS GOLD
We regret to inform you of the passing of Mrs. Freida Spitzer, a longtime Boro Park resident and a matriarch of a prominent Torah family. She was 89 years of age.
The nifteres was born in the town of Brest-Litovsk (Brisk) to her father, Reb Yoel Shilitzky. Her mother had come to America as a girl, and returned to Europe because she wanted to marry a ben Torah.
There, three children were born to them. While Freida and a brother were able to escape to the United States before the war, her father and sister remained behind and gave their lives al kiddush Hashem.
She married Reb Uri Shraga Spitzer, z”l, a Stoliner chossid, and longtime Rebbi in Yeshiva Chasan Sofer.
Together, they raised an illustrious Torah family.
Mrs. Spitzer was known for her sterling middos and her unrelenting emunah peshutah—qualities that she infused in her children and grandchildren.
She left this world on Friday night following a lifetime dedicated to Yiddishkeit.
The levaya will take place at 10:00 this evening at the stoliner shul, 16th Avenue and 48th street.
Yehi zichra baruch.
