BDE: Mrs. Sarah Sicherman, A”H
YS GOLD
We regret to inform you of the passing of Mrs. Sarah Sicherman, a”h, a matriarch of a prominent Torah family and the wife of, ybl”ch, R’ Wolf Sicherman, a major philanthropist and Rosh Hakohol of the Munkatcher Kehillah. She was 77 years of age.
The nifteres was born following the war to her father, Reb Bezalel Farkash, one of the owners of Mehadrin Dairy, and a talmid of the Minchas Elozor of Munkatch. Fittingly, she went onto a lifetime of serving as a pillar of the rebuilt Munkatcher Kehillah in New York. On her mother side, she hailed from the Stern family who were Rabbonim in Sighet.
She was raised by her parents toward a lifetime of adherence to Torah and Yiddishkeit which she passed on to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
The nifteres was a queenly, aristocratic woman, well-known in Boro Park and especially in the Munkatcher Kehillah.
She would always stop people with a smile and inquire about their wellbeing, their families and their lives—with extraordinary care and devotion.
She was the wife of, ybl”ch, Reb Wolf Sicherman, a philanthropist and ba’al Chessed who devotes much time to learning, and the nifteres supported him in his every endeavor.
A grandchild describes her extraordinary Chessed, and her devotion to her children and grandchildren. She would constantly speak of her illustrious ancestors, and always sought to transmit their traditions to her beautiful generations.
She suffered from illness for the last two years, but even in the worst of times, she was always thinking of others— a quality that defined her life, and for which she will be remembered by her loving family.
The levaya will take place at the Munkatcher Beis Medrash in Boro Park at 10:00 Thursday morning, and the nifteres will be laid to rest on the Kiryas Yoel Beis Hachaim.
Yehi zichra Baruch.
