By: Boropark24 staff
We are saddened to inform you of the passing of Mrs. Fishman, a 99 year old Holocaust survivor from Hungary and longtime Boro Park resident. From the end of the war, which she was fortunate to survive, until only recently, she nurtured Yiddishe kinderlach with her delicious delicacies and bright smile.
Tzipporah Malka was born in the Hungarian town of Újfehértó (Ratzfert). Her father was Reb Shaul Hakohen Rubin. She spent the war years in Bergen Belsen and Auschwitz, and suffered terribly with many illnesses, but she fought through it all valiantly, with ironclad Emunah.
Following the war, she married R' Aryeh Fishman, and they moved to Baltimore, where she worked as the cook of Yeshiva Ner Israel. Tragedy struck when her husband passed away at the young age of forty-four, leaving her widowed, caring alone for two orphans.
She moved to Boro Park, where she worked at Strauss Bakery for the next fifty years. She was known as the cookie lady because she would generously dole cookies out for the children. She retired from Strauss only recently. She was a doting mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who never complained about her lot in life.
She remained sharp until her last hours of life when she passed away shortly before Shabbos.
The levaya will take place in Shomrei Hadas at 10:30 this morning. Yehi zichra Baruch.
