BDE: R’ Lipa Orgel, z”l

YS Gold
We regret to inform you of the passing of R’ Chananya Yom Tov Lipa Orgel, a longtime Boro Park resident and a Torah’dige balebos. He was 88 years of age.
He was born in Nyiritass, Hungary to Reb Hershel and Mattel Orgel.
He spent the war years hidden in the home of a gentile, and survived along with three out of nine siblings.
Following the war, he learned in the Nitra Yeshiva, where he grew in Torah and yiras shamayim—attaining a love of Torah that would never leave him. He received semicha from Rav Yonasan Steif, zt”l.
After his marriage, he settled at first in Florida—where he had the privilege of hosting the Tosher Rebbe, zt”l—and later in Crown Heights and finally Boro Park.
He davened in Chust and in Deezh, and while he owned Deluxe Paint on 4th Avenue, he would spend half a day learning.
He is remembered by grandchildren for his great sense of humor, and as an extremely friendly person who made people smile all the time.
Reb Lipa leaves behind a wife and four children, and a legacy of Torah and yiras shamayim.
The levaya will take place at Shomrei Hadas at 8:00 this evening. To watch it live click here.
Yehi zichro baruch.
