BDE: Rav Avrohom Burech Winkler, z”l
We are saddened to inform you of the passing of Rav Avrohom Burech
Winkler, a tremendous talmid chochom who dedicated his life to Torah,
longtime Boro Park resident. He was 74.
The niftar was born in Yerushalayim to his father, the legendary tzaddik and ga’on, Rav Moshe
Mendl Winkler, zt”l, who was one of the confidants of the Shefa Chaim of
Klausenberg, zt”l.
He learned in the
Klausenberger yeshiva in Kiryat Sanz, where he developed into a great talmid
chochom. A talented writer, he had a great hand in committing to writing
the Torah of the Klausenberger Rebbe, and later, ybl”ch, the psakim of Rav
Gavriel Zinner, shlit”a.
He had a close
relationship with the Lubavitcher Rebbe, zt”l, and spoke at the siyum haRambam
in 770. He also was very close with the current Klausenberger Rebbe, and was
privileged to be at one seder each year. In addition, a friend from his
youth in Yerushalayim was the current Rachmastrivker Rebbe.
The niftar made
his regular makom tefillah at the Beitcher Beis Medrash—and his entire
life surrounded Torah and tefillah.
He leaves behind a
beautiful Torah family.
The levaya will take
place at the Beitcher Beis Medrash on 45th Street and 12th
Avenue at 4:45, and kevurah will be in Monsey.
