BDE: Rav Dovid Tzvi Fisher, z”l
YS Gold
We regret to inform you of the passing of Rav Dovid Tzvi Fischer, a longtime Boro Park resident and a great talmid chochom. He was 81 years of age.
The niftar was the eldest grandchild of the Mattesdorfer Rov, Rav Shmuel Ehrenfeld, and he was the son-in-law of the Margaretener Rov.
He was an incredible talmid chochom. He learned all the years in Yeshiva Ch’san Sofer which was established by his grandfather. There, he encountered his uncle Haga’on Rav Binyamin Paller who said shiurim in the yeshiva. For many decades, he transcribed the shiurim of his illustrious uncle—a task that required intimate familiarity with the depth of the sugyos.
Later, he became a maggid shiur in Ch’san Sofer for many years, and he became endeared to generations of talmidim there.
A relative recalls that he was a tremendous ga’on, and simultaneously a nechba el hakeilim, a man who kept to himself, never making anything of himself, always quiet and unassuming despite his Torah greatness.
The niftar left this world on Yom Tov. The Levaya was held on the second day of Yom Tov.
Yehi zichro baruch.
