We regret to inform you of the passing of Reb Nechemia Nagelblatt, z”l, a longtime Boro Park resident, and a survivor of multiple concentration camps. He was 99 years age.

The niftar was born to Yaakov and Reitzel Nagelblatt in Krakow in the year 1927. “Learning was all we had back home,” he would later say. “We would compete with each other who could learn better,” he would say. His Torah would remain with him for the rest of his life.

He endured the horrors of the Holocaust in Mauthausen and in other camps. He would emerge from the war a sole survivor from his entire family; everyone in his family was wiped out.

He arrived in America alone in the world, with nothing but the shirt on his back—but he was determined to rebuild. And rebuild he did. He would work long and hard in the garment industry, but he would learn for many hours, and he raised a beautiful Torah family who follow in his footsteps.

Reb Nechemia davened and gave shiurim at Rav Bick’s shul on 47th Street, and he was a beloved and admired figure in the entire neighborhood.

To the end of his life, he remained sharp, and people would come up to him asking about their family members from back in Krakow. He would regale them with stories and memories of their ancestors.

Reb Nechemia passed away Thursday night, returning his soul to its Maker, and going up to meet the family which has been torn away from him eighty years ago in the Great Churban.

The levaya will take place at Shomrei Hadas at 11:00 this morning.

Yehi zichro Baruch.
