BDE: The Sasreganer Rebbe of Flatbush zt"l

Boro Park - We are saddened to inform of the petira of the Sasregener rebbe of Flatbush, Rav Mordchai Dovid Rubin zt”l. He was 95.

The rebbe survived the Holocaust as a young child, and immigrated to the United States after the war with hits family.

The rebbe and his brother the late Muzhaier rebbe, established shuls in Flatbush. The Sasreganer beis medrash today serves as a center for Torah and tefilla for the entire area.

He became a mechutan with the Bobover rebbe when his son Rav Shia married the oldest daughter of Rav Naftali Tzvi, who later became the Bobover rebbe. Rav Shia Rubin today is the Bobov-45 dayan.

Another two of his his sons are the rebbes of Brizdovitz in Boro Park and Kolomaya of Williamsburg.
