Big Boost for the Catskills: Sullivan County Will Get High-Speed Internet
By Y.M. Lowy
For anyone heading to the Catskills this summer, there’s good news brewing. A $29.9 million broadband project has just been announced by Governor Hochul in Sullivan County, aiming to bring high-speed internet to over 22,000 homes and businesses.
The plan includes 253 miles of new fiber optic cable and an upgraded tower that will work with the county’s existing network. It’s the largest broadband investment in Sullivan County’s history and targets service gaps across the area.
Governor Kathy Hochul called it a turning point for rural communities that have gone too long without a strong connection. The project is part of New York’s ConnectALL initiative, focused on expanding affordable internet access statewide.
