Boro Park Residents Concerned as Precious Parking Spaces Given to Carshare Program
by YS Gold
The city’s Department of Transportation has announced that it will double the amount of parking spaces at curbs in New York City to a carshare program.
The program enables short-term car rental companies such as Zipcar, Getaround, and Truqit, to park their cars at designated spaces around the city. Drivers may reserve cars for a short-term rental, and take the car at the appointed time.
While the city has not taken any spots on the congested Boro Park streets for this program, some residents are concerned that the program may be expanded to our neighborhood, removing precious parking spaces from residents who find it more and more difficult to park their cars on the streets as it is.
