NYC Residents Rally in Push to Lower Speed Limit

While some lawmakers continue to push to raise the speed limit, there is a push going on in the State Senate at the same time aimed at lowering New York City's speed limit.

Transportation Alternatives and Families for Safe Streets held a rally at City Hall Park on Wednesday, pushing a legislative proposal to give City officials the authority to drop speed limits from 25 to 20 mph. 

While the governor's Executive Budget includes this proposal which the State Senate has accepted, the State Assembly still has to pass the proposal to make it law.
