Boro Park’s Longest-Running Business Closes Shop After 90 Years

Wallach’s dry goods store announced that they would be closing their doors permanently. This, after the establishment has been at the very same Thirteenth Avenue location since the 1920's, making it Boro Park’s longest-running business.

For decades, the establishment has been proudly Shomer Shabbos at a time when many area establishments were not.

The precise reason for the closure is unclear, but a statement on the company’s website read as follows: “Since 1933 we have been serving the Brooklyn Community by providing high quality clothing at affordable prices. Now, with our online store we look forward to serving a greater number of people throughout the United States with our same integrity.”

BoroPark24 has learned that one of Boro Park’s existing stores has purchased the property, and will be opening a large shop in the coming months—making a marked change on 13th Avenues’ retail map after 90 years.
