Boro Park Shomrim Puts end to Multi-Neighborhood Package Robbery Scheme. Suspects on the Loose

Boro Park Shomrim Puts end to Multi-Neighborhood Package Robbery Scheme. Suspects on the Loose

Suspects are on the loose Monday afternoon, following a multiple-week robbery spree of packages from FedEx and UPS dropboxes in Boro Park, Flatbush, and other neighborhoods.

Early this morning (Monday) Boro Park Shomrim received a call with a description of two suspects who had stolen packages, and the license plate of their getaway vehicle.

After canvassing for the vehicle for a short while, the suspects were spotted scouting another dropbox, presumably to empty it. NYPD was called to the scene, which is when the suspects fled. A chase ensued, but they hit traffic at 48th street at 19th Avenue, and they abandoned the vehicle there, fleeing on foot. A number of packages were found in the vehicle, but the suspects remain on the loose at this hour.

This incident prompted Shomrim divisions from numerous neighborhoods to come forward with similar incidents involving suspects with similar descriptions.

While an NYPD investigation has been opened, Shomrim is asking for the help of the public.

“If you have dropper a package at a FedEx or UPS dropbox over the last few week, track your package. If it has not made it to its destination, there’s a good chance that it was stolen,” explained a senior Shomrim coordinator. “It is crucial that you file a police report at the 66th precinct. It takes only a few minutes, and will ensure that the NYPD continues its investigation, locating the suspects, and ending this crime spree in our neighborhoods,” he said.
