Boyaner Chassidim in America to Gather for Shabbos of Chizuk and Unity

The Boyaner kehillah is one of the oldest, and longest-standing in America—with their roots on East Broadway on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, where the holy Rebbe Mordechai Shlomo of Boyan spread the light and the holiness of Boyan and Ruzin into the darkness of prewar America.

One the Rebbes of his time remarked: “Der Boyaner Rebbe, dos iz ah Rebbe.” His regality and his Ruziner royalty illuminated the way for that small core of chassidim, which has grown into an empire of Torah and chassidus today.

This Shabbos, history will come full circle, as the Rebbe great-grandson, a son of the Boyaner Rebbe shlit”a, who bears his name, will arrive to spend a Shabbos of unity and elevation in Boro Park together with all the Boyaner chassidim in America.

This Shabbos, which has drawn great anticipation for weeks, is set to make history among the community here. Shabbos night will see the entire kehillah gathered at the Ateres Golda Halls for the seuda, which will be replete with addresses by the Rebbe’s son, and nigunim and divrei Torah late into the evening. The bachurim will eat together with Rav Mordechai Shlomo on Shabbos morning, with seuda shlishis in the main Kloiz for the entire community.

Melave Malka will celebrate the siyum on Maseches Ta’anis, recently completed by the Daf Yomi cycle. Fittingly, much of the Shabbos has been sponsored by the Boyaner Levy family in the memory of their patriarch, Reb Eliezer Levy—one of the pioneering Boyaner chassidim from the early years of its existence on these shores.
