BPJCC and Agudath Israel to Distribute 400,000 Free Masks tomorrow to Community

BPJCC and Agudath Israel to Distribute 400,000 Free Masks tomorrow to Community
By Yehudit Garamise
You have the perfect esrog and lulav, your sukkah is almost built, soups and kugels are going into the freezer, but do you have enough masks for your entire family for Yom Tov?
Avi Greenstein, who is the CEO of the Boro Park Jewish Community Council (BPJCC), wants to make sure that every family has enough masks as we go into Yom Tov, and so tomorrow from, 1 to 5pm, Boro Park residents can stop by the BPJCC at 1310 46th St., to pick up boxes of mask for their families to stay safe and protected over Yom Tov.
Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor, BPJCC is honored to join forces with Agudath Israel of America to host a “Free Mask Distribution Day,” in which staff members from both organizations will be handing out 400,000 masks to everyone in the community.
In keeping with Boro Park’s usual mode of chesed, a concerned member of the community wanted to do more than to just encourage the Yidden to wear masks: the donor provided the boxes 400,000 masks, which will be delivered tomorrow morning to the BPJCC, iyH, in time for a massive distribution effort between 1 and 5pm.
“We are experiencing an uptick in Covid cases in Boro Park, and we have to do our part,” Greenstein said. “We to realize that wearing masks is important and of course, a lot safer, than not wearing masks.
“Wearing masks is relatively easy to do. All of the health experts say that wearing masks prevents the spread of Covid. We have to do the right thing to reduce our positive Covid numbers.”
Every family, Greenstein said, should stop by the corner of 13th Ave. and 46th St. to pick up two boxes of masks, while mosdos, kehillas, shuls, and store owners can pick up 10 boxes of masks.
“If more masks are necessary, anyone can reach out to the BPJCC,” said Greenstein, who emphasized that Mask Distribution Day is a good example of how Boro Park can prevent the spread of Covid without the city enforcing rules, threats, and fines.”
“These masks are not coming from the government,” Greenstein pointed out. “The masks are coming from within the community, from a heimish donor to the BPJCC to distribute to the community.”
In light of the recent uptick in positive Covid cases, the responsible thing for us to do right now is for the community leadership to work with the community, care for our community and help out with the effort to wipe out the virus.
“Our Mass Mask Distribution tomorrow is our way of demonstrating that we are here to do our part,” Greenstein says. “Of course, we also have to work with the local government and the Department of Health, but regardless, leaders, rabbis, and everyone need to show that we are here to care for our community and do what needs to be done.”
Everyone should stop by tomorrow to pick up masks tomorrow.
“No forms to fill out, no questions asked, please just pick up the masks, and use them!” Greenstein encouraged Boro Park residents.
