BPJCC Announces Night Hours to Assist With On-Going Section 8 Applications
Brooklyn, NY— As the deadline for Section 8 applications ends on Thursday of this week, the Boro Park JCC has already helped hundreds of families by responding to the tremendous turnout from those requesting application assistance.
Realizing there are those who, due to work or other reasons, can’t make it into the BPJCC during regular business hours, the BPJCC has announced expanded hours and hired additional staff.
For the very first time, the Boro Park JCC will be open for evening hours from 7 pm - 9:30 pm in addition to its regular 9 - 4 hours. The extended hours will remain in place through Thursday, May 27 - the deadline for the Section 8 applications which have been opened for the first time in more than ten years.
“It is the mission and goal of the BPJCC to assist with programs of this nature,” says Avi Greenstein, BPJCC CEO. “This is what the BPJCC is here to do. Even though people can apply for themselves online, many come to us for the security of working with a professional who has the patience to sit with them and provide the security that the application has been done properly.”
“We have direct contact with the State to help navigate through questions or challenges people might have” Greenstein added.
The new Section 8 application process is open through May 27, and the Boro Park Jewish Community Council’s team of experts are ready to assist with the Section 8 application. No appointment or documents are required. Yiddish assistance is available as well.
New York State will use a lottery system to select 15,000 households for the Section 8 waitlist. Those selected will be offered a Section 8 voucher when one becomes available. Completing an application does not guarantee a Section 8 voucher.
For assistance in applying for Section 8, visit the BPJCC at 1310 46th Street or call (718) 972-6600.
