Breaking: Four-Way Stop Sign Coming to 21st Ave and 61st St Intersection

After requests and letters from BoroPark24, the Department of Transportation has shared with BoroPark24 it will be installing a four-way stop at the busy and dangerous intersection of 61st Street and 21st Avenue.

This intersection has been the site of many accidents over the years, with residents worried about the safety of drivers and pedestrians. The high number of crashes made it clear that something needed to be done. Now hopefully the added stop sign will improve the overall safety.

In recent days, BoroPark24 once again reached out to elected officials, urging the DOT to install traffic lights at the intersection. While the new four-way stop is a meaningful step forward, the ultimate goal remains the installation of a full traffic light to ensure maximum safety.

This is something the community fought for and now some improvement is happening - one step closer to safer streets.
