Citi Bike Increases Prices

By Yehudit Garmaise

While Citi Bike members were previously charged $17.08 per month, starting on January 29, members will be charged per month: $18.33, an amount that would not even cover one Uber ride.

Citi Bike annual memberships, divided into manageable monthly payments, will increase from $205 to $219.99, but all new and renewing members will receive the perk of 60 free e-bike minutes.

On Thursday, a Citi Bike single trip, which cost $4.49 last year, will rise 30 cents to $4.79, the rideshare company announced.

Citi Bike Day Pass prices will remain at $19, but fees for extra time and e-bikes will increase this year, said the growing company, which in 2023 counted 1.4 million bikers who took nearly 36 million rides.

For rides that extend more than 30 minutes, starting tomorrow, the per-minute rate of nonmembers will be 30 cents, which is four cents more than the previous rate of 26 cents per minute.

Citi Bike members who ride for more than 45 minutes will be charged per minute: 20 cents, which is up last year from 17 cents per minute.

On its website, Citi Bank promised users improved bike sharing in New York City, station upgrades, and next-gen e-bikes.
