Violations of New York City’s alternate side parking regulations is going up to $65 on Thursday. The fine for parking in designated cleaning spots and “blocking the broom” in New York City is currently $45.
Many streets have alternate side regulations, which allow for street cleaning. Most alternate side parking signs are clearly marked with signs featuring a “P” crossed by a broom. Some areas have three-hour restrictions (e.g. 8 am to 11 am) but the times vary considerably.
