Daylighting Installed at Multiple Boro Park Corners Following Repaving

Following the recent repaving across Boro Park, reported step by step on BoroPark24, residents are noticing new street safety features rolled out at a number of busy intersections.

The City has introduced daylighting at several corners, a measure where parking is cleared close to the intersection to improve visibility for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists.

Among the locations where the changes can already be seen are 47th Street and 13th Avenue, as well as 11th Avenue and 57th Street. Similar corner treatments have appeared throughout the neighborhood in recent weeks.

While the removal of a few parking spaces may be felt in a parking-tight community like Boro Park, the City maintains that daylighting helps reduce accidents by giving drivers a clearer view at turns and allowing pedestrians to be seen more easily when crossing.

Boro Park residents are adjusting to this new change as part of the wider safety upgrades that followed the extensive repaving of the area’s streets.
