Donald Trump Eager to Launch 2024 Presidential Bid, Announcement May Come This Month
Former President Donald Trump is eager to launch a presidential bid, he reportedly told associates, and an announcement may be coming in July, seeking to capitalize on the bad shape the country is headed, including high inflation, rising gas prices, and President Biden’s unfavorable polling numbers.
Trump May also want to expedite his announcement as a way to stave off negative coverage surrounding the January 6th attack at the Capitol, as it is being rehashed through the January 6th Committee Hearings.
Last week’s testimony by a former aide, Cassidy Hutchinson, may have triggered the announcement to be expedited, instead of formally waiting till, after the November midterms, CNN reported, as Trump believes an announcement will allow him to fight the narrative and portray the investigations as politically motivated.
Trump, with an approval rating of around 80% with Republicans, will enter the race as the clear front-runner, but others who are expected to join the race, including outspoken Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, will likely create an ugly primary battle.
While some advisors say Trump is planning a formal announcement, others claim the former President can just send a Truth Social message announcing his run. Aides are reportedly trying to build the proper infrastructure, should an announcement come anytime soon, that Trump should be ready to hit up donors and voters to join his potential campaign.
