FBI Agent Arrested After Striking Pedestrian and Fleeing the Scene on Ocean Parkway

An FBI agent was arrested Thursday after allegedly striking a pedestrian with his government-issued vehicle in Kensington, leaving the injured man behind and later attempting to cover up the incident.
The incident occurred on February 3, at approximately 6:20 a.m. at the intersection of Ocean Parkway and Beverley Road, where 30-year-old Andrew Reyes was driving an FBI-issued Chevrolet Impala with its emergency lights activated.
According to federal prosecutors, Reyes was driving the wrong way on Ocean Parkway, traveling northbound in the southbound lanes, when he ran a red light and struck a pedestrian who was crossing the street.
The impact threw the man to the ground, leaving him unconscious and seriously injured.
Instead of calling for help, Reyes allegedly got out of his vehicle, dragged the unconscious man off the roadway and onto the sidewalk, and placed him on a nearby bench.
He then reportedly returned to the street, picked up the victim’s bag, placed it next to him, and drove away in his FBI vehicle with the emergency lights still activated, leaving the injured man behind without calling for medical assistance.
The victim survived, although the extent of his injuries has not been fully disclosed.
The incident remained under investigation, and on May 1, Reyes was questioned by investigators from the Department of Justice about whether he had ever struck someone with his government vehicle without reporting it.
Reyes allegedly lied to authorities and denied that such an incident had ever occurred.
On Thursday, Reyes was arrested after a federal indictment was filed against him.
Reyes had joined the FBI in 2023 and was assigned to its New York office. He is no longer employed by the agency.
Federal prosecutors say Reyes abused his position as a law enforcement officer by leaving an injured pedestrian without assistance and then attempting to conceal what happened.
He faces up to 10 years in federal prison if convicted.
