Fire on Thirteenth Avenue Leaves Damage in Multiple Establishments
As another busy Sunday shopping day on 13th Avenue drew to a close, a fire erupted at a salon on 50th Street, spreading to a nearby store, and leaving lots of damage in both. Thankfully, there were no injuries caused by the blaze.
The fire began around 4:30 at the “Professional Colorist in Wigs” salon, and quickly spread to the nearby Grand Sterling, through a shared courtyard.
The blaze sent heavy plumes of smoke upward, and it was a while before the many firefighters on the scene were able to bring it under control.
Fortunately, Oh Nuts, which borders both establishments, was unharmed—just as many customers were getting their last-minute Tu Bishvat provisions at the store.
Although a lot of damage was caused, the proprietors are grateful that no one was harmed in this 2-alarm blaze
